Great Time @ Barbican R&B Festival

Just a quick post to say thanks to Vince Lee for taking the time and enduring the hassle to organise the very first Barbican Rhythm and Blues Festival on Plymouths Barbican. This event was organised in place of the Plymouth Jazz and Blues Festival which didn’t happen this year. The Plymouth Classic Boat Rally supported the event. It was a brilliant day of live music for everyone and was very well attended – great to see the Blues alive and well. Anyone interested can check out for more information on Blues events in Plymouth.

I did a short (45 minute) opening set for the event with Mike Ballard on harmonica. What you might not have known is that Mike was playing with a slipped disc and was in agony throughout, so complete respect and admiration to Mike for trooping on like a good ‘un.

Vince Lee and The Big Combo invited me on to play a few tunes with them at the end of their set which made my day. I’ve posted a couple of video links below to give you a taster of the day.

Mike and I Playing “Keys to the Highway”

A medley of “Summertime” and “Aint No Sunshine” from Mike and I – this would sound great with a full band I think
